With a first-of-its-kind tribute, the Victoria and Albert Museum unveils NAOMI: In Fashion—an extraordinary exploration of Naomi Campbell’s iconic career. This ground-breaking exhibition delves deep into the life of a fashion icon, showcasing Campbell’s legacy through the lens of renowned photographers and visionary designers. It celebrates her creative collaborations, far-reaching cultural influence, and unrelenting activism, offering an intimate look at her unparalleled journey.

“It’s really intimate putting them out there for everyone to see; my Pandora’s box, if you like.”
Running until 6 April 2025, the exhibition provides a rare look into the life of one of fashion’s most influential figures. Through an extensive collection of haute couture, iconic imagery, and personal stories, it traces Campbell’s journey from teenage discovery to cultural phenomenon.

The exhibition highlights Campbell’s connections with designers who helped shape her career. The displays are curated with meticulous care, featuring creations from some of fashion’s most celebrated names, including Gianni Versace, Vivienne Westwood, and Jean Paul Gaultier. These garments transcend mere fabric; they capture Campbell’s ability to bring a design to life, turning each piece into a captivating narrative.

"Why do I stay doing what I do? Because my work is not done. I feel that I have to use my voice and platform to keep at them."
The exhibition unflinchingly highlights the challenges she has faced, including her 2007 court case and the iconic Dolce & Gabbana gown she wore on her final day of community service. These moments, woven into her story, are pivotal in understanding the woman behind the image—strong, resilient, and unapologetic.

This powerful legacy is captured in the photography throughout the exhibit, where renowned photographers such as Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier, and David Bailey expertly frame Campbell’s ability to connect with the camera. Meisel’s portraits convey Campbell’s commanding presence, evoking deep emotion and narrating stories through each image. Demarchelier’s shots, often intimate and refined, highlight her timeless elegance and grace, while Bailey’s bold portraits reveal Campbell's unapologetic confidence and raw energy. Each of these photographers highlights a different facet of Campbell’s multifaceted legacy, showcasing why she remains one of the most iconic figures in fashion history.

The final section, Archetype, celebrates Campbell’s role as a mentor and supporter of emerging designers.
NAOMI: In Fashion truly celebrates the icon's contributions to fashion, activism, and global culture in the most creative way, making it a must-see visit for fashion lovers interested in the evolution of fashion and the role one individual can play in reshaping an industry.
